The Isle of Capri wasn’t a location on our “bucket list,” but when our travel planner recommended it and we took a look at some photos it was love at first sight. Coming from the quaint, historic feel of Positano, Capri was a sharp contrast with it’s luxurious feel, upscale shops and stunning homes. Like a luxury resort town on steroids. It’s most defining characteristic was the stunning Faraglioni rocks that jut out of the the crystal blue Mediterranean sea along it’s coast line. The first image below is actually the view out the window of our hotel room. AH-MA-ZING!

Our two nights there were spent at the Hotel Luna, which proved to be our absolute favorite hotel on all of our stops. One side was nested on a cliff above the coastline and the other was surrounded by a beautiful garden filled with pomegranate trees and pink bougainvillea lined pathways. It was just a short walk from the main Piazzetta filled to the brim with luxury shops and amazing restaurants.

Each morning we had breakfast on the patio overlooking the sea. We even had a few uninvited guests (in the form of HUGE seagulls) who joined in on the fun to devour our leftovers the moment we set foot inside our room.

We took a short ferry ride around the island to check out Capri’s most notable sight – the Blue Grotto – a natural cavern where the sea glows blue because of the way the outside light passes through a cave below it. Getting there was quite the adventure! We climbed from one larger electric boat into a tiny paddle boat with only two other people and a guide. The opening of the cavern was SO small that we all had to lay down flat (basically on top of each other) in order to fit inside. Once we made it through the opening and our eyes adjusted to the darkness, we couldn’t help but gasp at the beautiful sight. The glow of the water was unlike anything we’d ever seen. The boat circled through the cavern as our guide serenaded us with a beautiful italian ballad. It was nothing short of magical. The photos hardly do it justice.

Next we headed to the opposite end of the island where we took a chairlift ride to the highest point in Capri. The views were spectacular!
Those rocks though! Watching the light change as the sun set on those beauties was THE BEST.

Nest stop: Florence and Tuscany!
