A surprise proposal at the Sanctuary Camelback Mountain Resort captured by Phoenix Proposal Photographers Ryan & Denise
As you can imagine, I’m kind of a sucker for a good proposal story. I hate to admit it, but when I’m alone in my car, I get a little misty eyed at the end of Taylor Swift’s “Love Song.” Please don’t judge me ;-) So when we got Russell’s email asking if we’d be willing to photograph his surprise proposal, I was beyond excited! The chance to capture images of that once in a lifetime moment is not only an honor, but a wonderful adventure too! What can I say? Hiding in the bushes turned out to be a pretty perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon . . .

It was an absolutely beautiful day at the Sanctuary Camelback Mountain Resort and the scene was set for an unforgettable moment to unfold. Russell and Patricia arrived and sat outside on the patio, enjoying the afternoon breeze. Sanctuary has always been a special place for them – they’d met there for the first time, on their very first date.
After chatting for a few minutes, Russell suggested that they go for a walk around the property. As they reached the bottom of the steps, he stopped and turned to her to ask a very important question …
He’d asked Patricia a few days before if he could borrow this little change purse from her daughter. She had no idea at the time what he needed it for, but the moment he pulled it out of his pocket, it all started to make sense …
This adorable series of images tells the story much better than I can …
Patricia was pretty excited to show off her bling once Russell pointed out the two photographers crouching in the bushes! LOL!
A champagne toast was waiting for them to commemorate the occasion.
These two are so perfect together!
We took a little walk around Sanctuary to snap a few engagement photos!
Patricia was full of excited giggles! It was adorable :-)
And I was totally in love with her gorgeous ring!
Well done Russell – you pulled off a picture perfect proposal! Thank you SO much for asking us to be part of it. It was truly an honor to capture such a special moment. We had so much fun getting to know you guys. You’re going to have the most amazing wedding and we wish you guys the best of luck! Hugs!
