An intimate Desert Botanical Garden wedding by Phoenix Wedding Photographers Ryan & Denise

Katie is the kind of girl who doesn’t take life for granted. About 8 years ago she was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia that nearly claimed her life. After a long string of treatments, she is now cancer free, but she never forgets how lucky she is to be alive.  She was given a second chance at life.  A chance to meet the man of her dreams, who would see her for the amazing woman that she is today. They met through a mutual friend who had a hunch that they’d hit it off. And that hunch was right!  When Paul looks at Katie, you can clearly see that these two are meant to be together.

In spite of the warm weather, they were united as man and wife in a sweet, intimate ceremony at the Desert Botanical Garden.  With only 6 people (and two photographers) in attendance, we felt pretty honored to witness the joining of this special pair.

I absolutely love how excited Paul was to see Katie in her wedding gown for their first look!  His expression is just priceless.

And Katie definitely shared his excitement :-)

We stopped inside to get Paul’s boutineer and soak in a little air conditioning.

There was lots of happy laughter with these two!

The light was so lovely, illuminating all the plants in the garden.

A couple sweet words from Katie, and Paul was grinning from ear to ear.

Even though they were having a very small wedding, I loved that they put so much thought into their attire.  The lace in all of their handmade wedding flowers was once a part of Katie’s Mom’s wedding gown.

After a few photos with their parents it was time to gather together and make things official.
