The Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area hiking trails in Cave Creek have always been special place for Katelynn and Joe. They’ve spent time hiking there throughout their relationship. At one of its loveliest overlooks, Joe asked Katelynn to be his wife as his two daughters looked on, capturing the whole even on their phones. Even when they booked their wedding venue at the Tonto Bar & Grill at Rancho Mañana, they loved that the mountain views included the very spot where Joe’s proposal took place. So of course, it was the absolute perfect location for their engagement session! We had planned to do their photos earlier in the spring, but the coronavirus pandemic had other ideas, so they ended up being our very first session back post-quarantine. We had a blast getting to know this sweet pair and soaking up the beauty of the Arizona desert. They were total troopers too! The warm, early summer temps brought out a crazy amount of bugs and the four of us were basically being swarmed with gnats the entire time we were out on the trail. It could have been pretty miserable, but these two just laughed it off, snuggled up and embraced the time together. We can’t wait to capture the moments as this special couple says “I do” this the fall!
Here are a few of our favorites from our time with them:
