A Sedona engagement session by Phoenix Wedding Photographers Ryan & Denise

Darren sat on the porch of their Sedona hotel room, listening to the sound of Christina talking on the phone in the next room. The phone call had been a welcome interruption to their game of Scrabble. It was the perfect chance to prepare a surprise. Up until that moment, he wasn’t entirely sure if the opportunity would present itself.  He arranged the letters carefully, spelling out four little words . . . forming a question that would mark the beginning of their new life together.  Three years of dinners out, laughing together and romantic getaways just like this one had all led up to this very moment.  He looked out on the red rocks of Sedona and he waited, straining to hear her voice as the conversation was coming to an end.  As Christina ended the call and walked back onto the porch, he held his breath.  She looked down at the board, confused at first, and then she started to smile as she put the four words together. “Will You Marry Me?”

How great is that story? No matter how many engagement stories we hear, I always get that warm happy feeling in my heart. What can I say? I’m a sucker for love :-) As you can imagine, Sedona is a very special place to Christina and Darren so it made the perfect backdrop for their engagement session.  We had so much fun soaking in all the fall colors and gorgeous weather with this adorable pair!

This bridge was packed with hikers so we had to wait for a clear moment, but it was well worth it!

We sent Christina & Darren out into this gorgeous sea of tall grass for some sweet snuggles! I’m totally in love with all the greens, browns and golds in this scene.

Not sure what the purpose was for the hole in this old wall, but it sure made for a fun photo op.

We had to get at least one shot where Christina was taller than Darren! Ha ha! Too cute :-)

We just couldn’t pass up the chance to do some “Scrabble” shots since the game did play an important role in their engagement. Darren was kind enough to reenact the scene.
