Brook & Joe ROCK.  Literally :-)  We had the pleasure of spending last Saturday with this fabulous punk rock couple to celebrate their totally awesome, uniquely their own, wedding day.  When I first met Brook, (and by “met” I mean virtually met through the power of Facebook), it was because she became a fan of our page and left a comment about how much she liked our work.  We became “virtual friends” and I quickly discovered that she and her soon to be hubby Joe were passionate about 3 things; music, their orange cat Squash, and each other.  It was their shared love of music that initially brought this adorable pair together.  They live in Chicago, but when they decided to have their wedding in Arizona, they contacted us to set up a meeting.  From the moment we met them in person, we just knew that capturing their day was going to be a blast!  They told us that they were planning to have a totally relaxed and casual day to celebrate their union AND they wanted lots of awesome photos. Our kinda’ couple, right?  And the best part?  Brook was going to wear an ORANGE wedding dress! Oh.Yeah.

(Please sign the guestbook if you’d like to be notifed when the rest of their photos are online.)
AND don’t forget to click “love” under your favorite images along the way!

The day started out like many other wedding days, with our bride preparing for the day.  Brook got ready at the Hyatt Place in Gilbert.  Lucky for us, the decor of the room complimented her fabulous dress perfectly.

Her awesome turquoise heels made a bold statement paired with the orange dress.  BTW, I’m pretty sure that statement was, “Yep,  I Rock.”

Ryan went downstairs to meet up with Joe for their first look so I grabbed a couple quick portraits of Brook.

The first look :-)  So sweet!

Off to our first location!  They really wanted some cool and unusual spots for their portraits so our first stop was an orange grove in Mesa.  When we arrived we were a little disappointed to discover that the oranges weren’t in season and they were still all green.  So much for that idea :-(  And on top of that, the whole grove was really muddy.

The lack of ripe fruit and muddy terrain didn’t matter much to Brook & Joe.  They were determined to have an awesome time no matter what. And they did :-)

One word: FIERCE!

Ryan decided we needed a fun action sequence so we played a little catch with the not-so-orange fruit.

We actually learned a new and useful pose from working with these two.  It’s a common stance in metal music that’s lovingly referred to as “Invisible Oranges” because it looks like you’re holding invisible fruit in both hands while making a tough face.  Nice. Pretty hardcore, right?

Their next request was some desert landscape (since it is Arizona after all), so we headed to Papago Park.  Man, can this girl work it in front of a camera or what?

Joe’s not too bad either :-)  Not a lot of guys can pull of an orange parasol, but he totally did.

Rawwrrrrr!

Just had to showcase Brook’s “true love” tattoo :-)

This it totally one of those moments in between shots that I just love.  They look like they’re having so much fun, don’t they?

Did we mention that they love to high five?  Yeah, let’s just say that there will be quite a few images like this one in their full gallery!  Hilarious!

After a few hours of shooting, we headed to Joe’s parents house for the ceremony and reception.  Almost as soon as we arrived, a crazy storm reared it’s ugly head. What are the odds that a couple from Chicago would come to Arizona to get married and has to delay their ceremony due to rain?  But in true Brook & Joe form, they decided to “knock it out” anyway and everything worked out beautifully.

And being the total tech geeks that we are, we got a kick out of the fact that they read their vows off of an iPad.

Happy tears :-)

They spent a TON of time making 197 orange & turquoise paper cranes to hang in all the trees.  We thought this little guy made a perfect place for a ring shot :-)

To Brook & Joe: we had a total blast hanging out with you guys!  Thanks for putting your trust in us and being completely yourselves in front of our cameras.  In spite of the mud, heat, and the random guy with a rake you guys ROCKED it!  Your day was so special and we’re so glad that we were able to be a part of it.  Here’s hoping wedding #2  is just as wonderful!  Rock on!!!
