Nothing brings us more joy then when an old friend finds the love of their life and we have the honor of capturing it! We’ve known Heather for what feels like forever! The three of us were high school youth group pals and she and Ryan go even farther back to their junior high school days. One of us (I’ll refrain from using names to protect the guilty party) may have even toilet papered her childhood home a time or two ;-) LOL!
When Jason asked Heather to marry him, it was all part of a weeklong celebration for her birthday. It began with lunch at Olive & Ivy, the restaurant where they shared their first date. A sweet and thoughtful lunch turned into a multi-day birthday extravaganza that included a visit to the Phoenix Art Museum, an interactive art class, gazing at the city lights from their favorite rooftop bar, a fancy dinner out and seeing a local musical production of The Little Mermaid! WOW. I think we’re all going to ask Jason to plan our next birthday party, right? Somewhere in the middle of all that fun, they even found time to spend an evening serving others side by side while packing food boxes for Feed My Starving Children. The high point of an incredible week was disguised as a casual afternoon lunch at one of their favorite hang out spots, The Living Room. They shared a bottle of red wine as a local musician played and Jason asked Heather to be his forever. Saying “YES!” to her love was the best birthday surprise she could have ever asked for!
We had the best time hanging out with this adorable pair at Papago Park for their engagement photos. In spite of the fact that we were surrounded by about a 50 other photographers doing family sessions (holiday card season anyone?), Heather and Jason had no trouble at all forgetting about the crowd and cozying up to each other. We couldn’t be more excited to photograph their wedding at Troon North Country Club next year!
Here are just a few of our favs from our time with them!
