When Katie & Justin first sat down with us to discuss photography for their wedding, they told us the story of how they met. It was years ago when Katie was working at a smoothie shop and Justin used to come into the store in his Best Buy uniform. Katie decided that she dug his blue polo shirt and well, the rest is history. Awww . . . young love :-) Last Sunday “Smoothie Girl” and “Best Buy Guy” tied the knot in the backyard of their home among their closest family and friends. It was such a sweet, intimate and wonderful day and we felt so blessed that we got to share it with them. In a lot of ways, it felt like we were there more as guests than as photographers! Not only do we adore these two, but their families are both so amazing and welcomed us like their own.
(Please sign the guestbook if you’d like to be notified when the rest of their photos are available online.)
Here’s a shot of Katie’s lovely gown.
The bride taking one last look in the mirror before heading out to see everyone for family photos.
Ta dah! Just love everyone’s reactions :-)
Katie & Justin put so much thought into every detail of their day. They did such a wonderful job of creating a beautiful event that really reflected them as a couple. Check this out: Justin even built the hoopa himself! Pretty impressive . . .
Love this shot of Katie hiding around the corner of the house, ready to walk down the isle – so happy and excited!
They each wrote their own vows and they were so sweet and heartfelt I think everyone there laughed AND cried (including us)! Justin’s brother-in-law Chris performed their ceremony and did such a great job making it really personal (and funny!). Speaking of Chris, we’ll be getting back to him a little later in the post.
It’s official :-)
I just have to share more of their awesome details. Their color palete was perfect :-) The yellow was super fun of course, but there were also wonderful hints of greens, muted blues and browns! They built their whole table theme around the classic bike. Each table was named for a bike related term – even the kids table, which was called “Training Wheels”. How adorbale is that? The awesome antique windows are actually a permanent fixture in their home, but of course, they found a way to customize them for the occasion. Everything looked amazing.
Mr. & Mrs. Bern!
Their first dance.
Loved these next two so much, I just couldn’t choose :-)
We brought along our laptop to give everyone a little preview of their bridal session from earlier in the week. It’s always so much fun to get to watch our couples react when they see their photos for the first time.
A little Bride & Groom high five action during the toats. Hillarious!
Their red velvet cake was from one of their favorite restaurants La Grande Orange (LGO). And seriously, it tasted A-MA-ZING!
Katie & Justin put together this super fun Jeopardy style game for everyone. They played hosts and each table was it’s own team. Everybody had a blast, especially the kids!
A little extra fun for us too . . . Reunion Time! We got to hang out with two of our past wedding couples! Chris & Lauren (Justin’s sister) and Bryan & Melissa (Katie’s sister). We just had to get a shot with all three! Man we are LUCKY photographers :-)
Make sure to check out the slideshow below for more highlights!
To Katie & Justin: thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of such a special day. It’s kinda sad knowing we don’t have “another Katie & Justin shoot” coming up in the next few weeks :-( We have had the best time with you guys and can’t wait to see what the future holds for you both! We heart you guys!
We heart you guys! :o) I love the song choice in the slideshow (that was my first song choice for walking down the aisle). You captured so many wonderful memories. I am so happy to know that years from now we will be able to look back at these photos and be back in the moment. Thank you Denise & Ryan for being such an amazing part of our wedding experience!
That’s adorable, i love the shot of all three couples!
And i love the forsythia and grass on the tables, so fresh and sweet and simple.
Great job once again, Gotchers :)
BEAUTIFUL!
AWESOME!!!
