We have some BIG news to share! If you missed the video on Facebook this morning, feel free to check it out here in all it’s epic glory! And please forgive the production quality – we shot the entire thing on our iPhones! Ha ha!
That’s right! WE’RE PREGNANT! Little Baby Gotcher will be joining our family in early May 2015 and we could not BE more excited! The past 13 weeks has already flown by and we can’t believe we’ll be a party of three in about 6 months. When anyone announces they’re expecting, it’s immediately followed by a series of questions so we figured we’d go ahead and answer them all right now:
When are you due? How far along are you?
Baby G is scheduled to arrived on May 12, 2015! That puts us at 13 weeks and 2 days. He/she is about 3 inches long right now – the size of a peach!
When did you find out?
Our little bun in the oven made his/herself known about a week before we left for Italy last month! Yep, this little one apparently shares the same affinity for travel that his/her parents do because he/she insisted on joining in on the fun! Not even born yet and this tiny person is already a world traveler.
How are you feeling?
I’m so thankful that God has spared me from a lot of pregnancy side effects. I’ve been nauseous here and there, but it hasn’t been too debilitating, which was a HUGE praise while in Europe and while shooting weddings during a busy fall season. In Italy, I was pretty sensitive to smells and there’s a LOT of smoking there so I made it a habit of wearing a scarf doused in perfume so I could shield my extra sensitive nose when needed. Eating lots of small snacks and always having crackers available to munch on has been my saving grace in times when I did start to feel sick. The harder to deal with side effect has been the extreme tiredness. Apparently, your body is working pretty hard behind the scenes while making a human, so I’ve defineatly felt the wear and tear on my energy level. That paired with jet-lag upon our return had me falling asleep between 7 and 8 pm for a couple solid weeks, but it seems to be subsiding a bit now that I’m into my second trimester.
Are you going to find out the sex of the baby?
Absolutely! We’re far to curious to wait so we should know if Baby G is a boy or girl right around the holidays. Merry Christmas to us!
Any food cravings? Aversions?
I can’t seem to get enough potatoes. Baked, mashed, french fries – you name it, it makes my mouth water big time. I’ve also been indulging in whatever fruit I can get my hands on. I’ve been lucky so far that my cravings aren’t too un-healthy and easy to come by so no crazy midnight food runs for Ryan so far. I was a fairly picky eater to begin with so I haven’t encountered anything so far that has made me especially nauseous.
Are you still booking weddings?
We sure are! We’ll likely be taking a hiatus in May, June and July (except for the few weddings we already have on the books), but other than that, it will be business as usual. We do plan to bring along a third shooter for our March and April weddings to help out with carrying heavy gear and be available if I need to take breaks here and there. I’m guessing lugging around a big belly in additions to cameras, lens and other necessary equipment for 8 hours is going to slow me down just a little bit ;-)
Big thanks to the incredibly sweet Claudia and Luca of Rossini Photography for this little sneak peek of our photo session in Rome! We sent this out to our families to share the news before making it public. Can’t wait to share more of our session in a few weeks!
Here’s a couple ultra sound photos of Baby G from last week! Buckle up baby – there will be LOADS more photos when you make your entrance into this world. Just ask our poor dogs. Ha ha!
