It’s a beautiful thing when God writes your love story. That was definitely the case for Lucia and Ryne. They connected for the first time in a college class at North Central College. She was a mom with a young daughter, determined to complete her degree.  Meeting the love of her life was the last thing on her mind. She connected with Ryne in a study group and they became fast friends. They both secretly wondered if they could be more, but the odds were against them. They lived in different parts of the country and long distance never worked. So they went their separate ways, staying in touch as social media and email “pen pals.” Over time, they become confidants. When something good happened, Lucia couldn’t wait to share it with Ryne. When something was tough, she sought his advice. Both of them had developed deep feelings for each other, but neither one was sure if being together would make sense. When Ryne came to town for a wedding, they set a date to have coffee and as they said goodbye, they shared a kiss. It felt more right than anything else they’d ever experienced. Why would God have allowed them to fall for each other if they weren’t meant to be?  They agreed to move forward in faith and let God sort out the obstacles.

As he always does, God was faithful to deliver on his promises, even down to the details of their wedding. What was to be just a small ceremony with only their daughter Maile in preparation for their move to Arizona in the summer, became a beautiful celebration with all of their parents and siblings in attendance! It was an incredibly special time for all of them and filled with so much love.
